My newest creation is ready. It’s a lamp. It’s made of a typical Chinese aluminum kettle.

I’m very proud to announce that my website www.jonasdesign.net is now online. Please check it out and let me know if you have any suggestions. I will keep working on it and extending it in the coming days and weeks and I’ll try to make sure to actualize it regularly. I will keep updating my flickr page as well, as soon as there is new products, updated pictures of our loft or new event pictures.
There is still some free space on my links page. If you have an interesting website yourself, please send me the address and I’ll consider to add it to my links.

There was no news for a long time, that’s because I was hibernating during the coldest time of the year. Now I’m back and here are the news: My Kettle Lamp has been accepted to be shown at the HONGMEN Contemporary Art Show at River South Art Center in Shanghai (a super cool location!) on March 26. Find more information here and show up at the event.
And by the way, two of Nina’s pictures MEMORIES OF WEIHAI LU are going to be exhibited there as well. All pieces are also up for sale at the exhibition.

The Brazilian trend hunter Lucas Maciel has visited my studio a while ago and wrote about his visit on his website www.99novas.com.br. He even made a short video introduction that he uploaded to youtube. The article is unfortunately only in Portuguese.

I’m about to complete a project that kept me busy for the last two month. I’ve been working on a project to furnish an entire event space of a street ware shop in Shanghai. The Long Tang Table 2.0 was the first piece that I finished for this project. The biscuit box benches I completed next and now I finished also two coffee tables and four sofas which will go together with the coffee tables. One more table should be completed soon. Pictures will follow. As soon as all these pieces are delivered to the shop, I’ll upload some pictures and some information, which shop and where it is....... Check out the studio pictures in the meantime...

Finally I managed to finish a branding iron to make some proper marketing on my furniture. Here you can see me burning my first brand into one of my furnitures.

I got invited to the Sunhoo Creativity & Innovation Festival which is taking place this week. I will go there from Wednesday to Friday and will give a presentation about my furniture design on Thursday afternoon. Find more information on the festival homepage.

The Chinese design magazine m.style just published the May issue and I'm proud to tell you that there is an article about me and my furniture inside! I'm even on the front page of their website :-) To read the article you need to buy the magazine and you should be able to read in Chinese, unfortunately, or come to visit me, I should get some print copies.....

I’m thrilled to tell you that ten (10!) pieces of my furniture are on display and available for sale at SOURCE. SOURCE is a super cool streewear shop on 158 Xinle Lu in Shanghai. They have an event space within their shop where they organize art exhibitions, film screenings and other events. My furniture is in this event space, used for their events but also available to customers to be bought.

GreenDiary, a blog from India wrote again about one of my designs. This time it’s the Biscuit Box Table and Benches. Besides that, they mentioned that I’m from Sweden.... Obviously do the Indians have the same problem to distinguish Switzerland from Sweden, same as in China.....

My Long Tang Table 2.0 is going to be part of a group exhibition @ Source in Shanghai from September 2 - 11. The theme of the exhibition is “wood”. Come for the opening on September 2nd, it will be fun....

Jonas’ Design just got registered on a website called www.nobrands.de . This is a website which is promoting small businesses which are working in the field of sustainable design and upcycling. The listings are international, mostly European but the target audience is german speaking for now. Unfortunately there is no english version of the site. However, I highly recommend to check out this website and all the cool companies and their products. Looking at the increasing amount of different businesses in this field, I feel that this will be the next trend. Hopefully also in China.....

Yesterday I was invited to join a photo shooting for the Chinese Elle Decoration magazine. It will be published in October. Looking forward to see my stuff in such a cool magazine.

Yesterday evening we had a wine tasting plus dinner at our studio. Tinta Fina Fine Wines brought 14 different wines and delicious food and we prepared some more food. This Saturday I will participate in a cool event called D.A.F.F. This stands for Design, Art & Fashion Fair. I will have a little pop-up-shop and many other cool designers and artists will do so as well. On top of that there will be fashion shows, live art performances and food & drinks. It’s from 1-7pm, this Saturday, September 24 @ Wharf 1846 in Shanghai. (Address: 600 Waima Lu, near Maojiayuan Lu 外马路600号, 近毛家园路)

D.A.F.F. (Design, Art & Fashion Fair) was a super cool event! I had a pup-up shop directly on Huangpu river with direct view onto the impressive skyline of Pudong. The weather was great, there was a cool bunch of people and some amazing other designers with their pop-up shops. One of them a good friend of mine, Veronika Brusa with her fashion brand USW.
I heard that TICT is planning to organize this event twice a year, one in autumn, one in spring.... Count me in for the next one!

From December 3rd 2011 to February 5th 2012 I will show some of my works at ART+ Shanghai Gallery in a group exhibition called FOLD3 USELESS / Upcycling in Art & Design.
The opening reception will be held on Thursday, December 8th, 7-9pm. Everybody is welcome to join!
